SIFE was initiated in Thailand in 2004 by KPMG Phoomchai Group as participating sponsor. The program was officially launched on February 14,2005 with 4 founding universities; Assumption, Chulalongkorn, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology , Ladkrabang, and Thammasat.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand has become partner and main sponsor of SIFE Thailand since April 2005 , following with leading companies such as HSBC in Thailand, KasikornBank PCL, Oishi Group PCL and others. A SIFE Board of Directors was set up in June 2006 honorably chaired by Prof. Dr. Chai-Anan Sumudavanija as SIFE Thailand Chairman. The Board of Directors comprises of Executives from SIFE sponsoring companies in 2005.

The inaugural SIFE Thailand National Competition was held on July 12,2005 at the Stock Exchange of Thailand Building. The first Thailand National Champion is SIFE Team from Chulalongkorn University.
