New Judging Criteria for Program Year 2008-2009
During the last decade, the world has seen a gradual, yet long-overdue focus on the sustainability of our environment. Numerous influential organizations have incorporated social responsibility and environmental programs as core initiatives. The United Nations included a topic on "Environmental Sustainability" as part of its Millennium Development Goals: to help steer the world's focus on this key issue and to converge our energies on making a substantial and lasting difference in our world.

2009 SIFE Regional Team Training
In 2009, there are 23 SIFE teams from 14 provinces of Thailand registered to participate SIFE program. To ensure that all teams have clear understanding about SIFE projects implementation and can develop quality SIFE projects to benefit most to both SIFE students and community, SIFE Thailand conducted 2009 SIFE Team Training regionally (North, South, Central). SIFE regional team training aims to encourage participation from SIFE teams to share best practices and network with other teams.

2009 SIFE Thailand Grant Application Deadline Extended to Feb 16, 2009
SIFE Thailand Grant is now available for all SIFE teams. SIFE Thailand Grant value 10,000 baht supported by SIFE Thailand sponsored. The objectives of the grant are to encourage SIFE teams to develop projects that meet all 6 SIFE criteria and to ensure that teams understand the criteria and implement quality projects.

2009 HSBC Financial Literacy Grant
In 2009, 24 of the SIFE countries will be eligible for Financial Literacy Grants. In partnership with the HSBC Global Education Trust and HSBC Holdings plc, SIFE is offering grants for financial literacy projects to be completed between January and July 2009. Grants will range from US$250 to US$1,000 and be dispersed in two allotments. All eligible SIFE teams are encouraged to apply.

2009 SIFE Thailand National Exposition Dates Changed

2009 SIFE Thailand National Exposition dates have been changed to July 8-10, 2009. The venue is Sasa Patasala Building, Sasin Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University. Agenda of the competition will be available for your further information and preparation.

Team Tip of the Month

Although SIFE World Head Quarter does not charge dues and does try to offset some team costs, it is inevitable that your team will need additional money throughout the year. Since most teams are self-supporting, the burden of raising this money often falls on team members. The decision to conduct entrepreneurial activities or solicit

 

donations should be driven only by the need to finance your team's educational efforts or operational expenses. Whatever method you choose, make sure your fundraising efforts contribute to the long-term sustainability of your SIFE program. There are four primary sources of money for your team to pursue: Campus, Foundations, Entrepreneurship, and Partnerships. For detailed information on suggested approaches in obtaining funding, please refer to pages 53-54 of the SIFE Global Handbook and Training Manual www.sife.org/sifeforms
